Statement of Faith

Our Mission

We serve Christ Jesus by teaching the Gospel and baptizing disciples in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Trinity

We believe, teach, and confess the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnate, through whom everything was made and through whose life, death, and resurrection God fashions a new creation.

Our Basic Belief

We believe, teach, and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe in him. We are saved to eternal life only by God’s grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone, and that is a gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8).

The Gospel

The proclamation of God’s message to us as both law and gospel is the Word of God, revealing judgment and mercy in the person and work of Jesus Christ through whom God was pleased to reconcile all things to himself.

Forgiveness

We recognize that all fall short of righteousness obliged by the Lord when we sin. Judgment and vengeance are the Lord’s only. There are no perfect people at Grace Community Church. (Romans 3:10-18).

Our Sacraments

We have two Sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. Both are a means of grace given to us by the Lord Jesus. Holy Communion is offered to all that believe Christ Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.

The Bible

The Holy Scripture of the Bible is the sufficient and complete guide in all matters of faith, morals and personal salvation. The Scripture is God-breathed (inspired) and the inerrant word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).  Through the Bible God’s Spirit speaks to us to create and sustain Christian faith and fellowship for service in the world.

Lutheranism

We are “evangelical,” thus our beliefs, teaching, and action are guided by the words of the Gospel. Believers are a royal priesthood, a chosen generation, called to proclaim and praise God and teach the Gospel. Thus we stand on the Gospel of Christ, the Word that brings light and life to all that believe, repent, and rely on faith in Christ. (1 Peter 2:9)
