Grace at the Place is a church fellowship that is committed to serve the community by sharing the love of God and the light of His gospel in La Grande, Oregon and around the world. We are more than just a body of believers – we are a family that is set apart to honor God, to advance His kingdom through evangelism and discipleship, to know his Word, and to gather together in fellowship.
If you’re trying to live the Christian life on your own but keep running into roadblocks, you know you have to try something different. Maybe you’ve been out of church for a few months, maybe it’s been a long time. Whatever the case, our goal is to support you as you grow closer to Christ. It’s a much more fulfilling walk with God when you have the support of a loving church family.
Weekly Happenings at Grace
Worship Service
Sundays at 10am
Join us as we gather together to worship, study God’s Word, and fellowship as a family. Come experience God’s goodness, learn and grow in the Bible, and connect with a warm, loving spiritual family. Stay afterwards for a potluck meal each week.
Sunday School
Sundays at 9am
The path to becoming a fully devoted disciple is a lifelong, day-by-day journey. Sunday School is an opportunity for us to recap the previous week’s message, engage in a meaningful conversation about God’s Word, and build each other up in the faith.
Mid-Week Bible Study
Thursdays at 10am
We meet every Thursday at the church building for a deeper, inductive Bible Study. This Bible study is led by a member of the church and is focused on interpretation of the passage at hand. Join us for a lively discussion as we study the book of Jonah.

We are committed to building a solid, Christ-centered family through nurturing believers in the Word of God, effective prayer, and sincere relationships.
We believe knowing the Bible is fundamental to the Christian life, which is why we place an emphasis on studying the Bible in order to understand it’s original meaning and apply God’s unchanging truth to our lives.
You will notice this emphasis at our church service, Sunday School, or Mid-week Bible Study. If you’re looking to increase your knowledge of Jesus through the Bible, you’ll find a friendly atmosphere in which to accomplish it at Grace.
Enjoy Fellowship at Grace
We believe that the most effective and formative spiritual growth happens when we are connected to each other in our walk with God.
We want each person at Grace to feel genuinely cared for and have made this a core value.
Our emphasis on fellowship and genuine relationships is evident throughout the week; we share a meal directly after each service (come hungry!), we partner together to serve and share the gospel with the local community, and we have a lively inductive Bible study each Thursday morning.
Enjoy a Service Rooted in Christian Tradition
We aim to strike a healthy balance between holding a traditional service without being overly formal.
You’ll notice some liturgical elements like organ music, hymns, and the taking of communion. You’ll also notice that our service is comfortable and inviting at the same time.
As a member church of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, we believe we are not a denomination, but a movement. We are set free from the burden of our sin by the work of Jesus. This freedom is reflected in how we conduct our service. We are not trying to earn our way to God through our service; instead we simply want to honor God through our worship and hold true to the principles He has set forth.
